Novoron Bioscience is building a team focused on advancing first-in-class therapeutics for neurodegenerative disease and CNS injury.
Below are the positions we are currently hiring for.
Sr. Research Associate / Scientist – Cell Biology & Assay Development
About Novoron Bioscience
Novoron Bioscience is a San Diego-based biotechnology company developing first-in-class therapeutics targeting neurodegeneration and central nervous system injury. Our platform focuses on lipoprotein receptor biology and the development of novel small molecule and biologic therapeutics for diseases including Alzheimer’s disease, synucleinopathies, and spinal cord injury.
Our team combines cell biology, human iPSC models, assay development, structural biology, and emerging AI-enabled discovery approaches to advance novel therapeutic programs from early discovery toward clinical development.
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate or Scientist to support our cell biology and assay development efforts. This is an opportunity to join a growing discovery-stage biotech company and contribute directly to the development of novel therapeutics for neurological disease.
Title and level will be commensurate with experience and academic background.
Position Summary
Working closely with our research leadership team and senior scientists, you will contribute to the development, optimization, and execution of cell-based assays supporting our neurodegeneration and CNS therapeutic programs.
The role will involve hands-on work with a range of cellular systems, including HEK293T cells, human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived neural progenitor cells (NPCs), and neurons. You will support both established and next-generation assay platforms focused on protein internalization, neuronal differentiation, toxicity screening, and small molecule activity profiling.
This position is ideal for a scientifically curious, detail-oriented individual who enjoys working in a collaborative startup environment and is excited by the opportunity to help build new technologies and therapeutic programs.
Responsibilities
Culture, maintain, expand, validate, and cryopreserve a variety of mammalian cell lines and human iPSC-derived neural cell systems
Execute and optimize cell-based assays related to protein internalization, neuronal differentiation, toxicity profiling, and small molecule screening
Assist in the development and validation of new experimental protocols and assay methodologies
Perform experiments in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and assay development
Analyze and present experimental data in a clear and organized manner
Maintain accurate experimental documentation using electronic lab notebooks and Good Documentation Practices
Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary internal and external research teams
Participate in weekly scientific meetings and contribute to experimental planning and troubleshooting
Basic Qualifications
BS/MS with significant laboratory and/or industry experience, or PhD in cellular and molecular biology, neuroscience, biochemistry, or related field
Experience working with mammalian cell culture systems
Experience with protein analysis techniques such as western blotting and SDS-PAGE
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
Human iPSC culture and neuronal differentiation
Immunocytochemistry, microscopy, and cellular characterization assays
RT-qPCR and molecular biology techniques
Cell-based medium- or high-throughput screening assays
Flow cytometry and associated analysis software (FlowJo, FCS Express)
High-content imaging platforms
Small molecule discovery or translational neuroscience research
Assay development and optimization
Location
San Diego, California
This position is based on-site in San Diego, California. Candidates should already be located in, or willing to independently relocate to, the San Diego area.
